2nd and 3rd Grade Christmas Break Homework

Dear Parents and Students,

     I've had difficulties with my account on Front Row. Mr. Woods has been notified and will contact Front Row as soon as we get back from the break to resolve the issue. As a result I was not able to assign students any assignments for the break. So, I have asked Mrs. Bagley to please give me her login information so that I could create a new class code for each grade and begin to assign work under her account. Students will log onto Front Row using the new class code created until my account is fixed with the appropriate grade level and access.
     I am aware that assignments may not be completed by the time classes resume, so I will have all assignments due by January 10th. From today that is exactly 13 days, the same amount of time that was given for the Christmas break.

     Second graders please log onto Front Row with your first and last name and new class code: 2cb6z9. Please click here for your login information. Once you have logged on, please compete the following assignments:

Welcome 2nd & 3rd Graders

Dear Parents,

     I am looking forward to working with your children for the remainder of the school year. If ever there are any questions or concerns please feel free to set an appointment through the office with me. I am available in the mornings as I try to arrive as early as 7:30 AM. Week of 12/4 - 12/8

REMINDERS
NYS DOH Immunization Inspection
IMPORTANT
     Mr. Woods was notified on Friday that OLQM will undergo an audit of ALL students immunization records before December 15th - no exact date was set.
This same audit happened approximately 
15 years ago.
     If students did not have immunizations up to date a letter was sent home by the NYSDOH informing the parent that their child COULD NOT RETURN TO SCHOOL until the records were updated.  
     Alba and Mr. Guzman will be calling parents this week and it must be addressed immediately - this is not a manana moment! This is beyond the school's control!
  1. Beginning this week, students are to log onto Front Row. Work should be done at least 20 mins per night. Assignments will be posted and accounted for. Reminders for parents, students who are failing in subject areas such as math or ela, should be logging in religiously and doing the assignments. Front Row will be a remedial for your child and help them progress academically. Front Row is supported by Chromebooks, iPads, laptops and android tablets.

REMINDERS

Week of 11/20 - 11/24

REMINDERS
  1. Monday, 11/20 is the last day to bring in canned food for the poor.
  2. Report Cards will be distributed to students who have no outstanding tuition balance on Monday 11/20.
  3. Sight Words Assessment 2 is on Monday, 11/20.
  4. Parent Teacher Conference is on Tuesday, 11/21 from 2-8pm sharp. Students will have 12 noon dismissal, please advise anyone who picks up your child.

  4. Students may leave book bags and lunchboxes at home unless parents wish to send those in after school something for later on in the day.

REMINDERS
  1. During the month of November, the school is asking students to collect canned goods for the poor. We ask that students bring in as many cans as they can throughout the month. The class with the most cans collected, will win a pizza party.
  2. Friday, 11/17 students may dress up as their favorite Mickey Mouse character to celebrate Mickey and Minnie Mouse's Birthday. Costume contest will be held at 1:00pm, parents are welcomed to join.

        Welcome back to all parents and students! I hope you all had a wonderful summer and I look forward to having an amazing year with your kindergartners!

        2. Any students who have yet to bring in their supplies or have some supplies missing must have them in on Monday as we will begin all subject areas. 
        3. Our gym days are every Tuesday and Wednesday, so please send your child to school with their full gym uniform.
        4. Early drop off is at 7:00 am in the classroom and breakfast is offered in the lunchroom.

        2017 - 2018 Supply List for K-2

        K-2  2017 - 2018 Supply List

        Dear Parents/Guardians,

                  Below are the supplies that your kindergartener will need this upcoming school year. With the help of these resources, your little ones will be ready to learn and grow this year. I ask that all parents label ALL of their child’s supplies.

        *notebooks and folders may be purchased at our school supply store*
        •  2 notebooks – the school’s supply store has blue ones that allow your child to learn penmanship easier with wide lines
        •  5 pocket folders: yellow, red, blue, green, and purple - plastic folders can be found in the school’s supply store as they are more sturdy and durable; they will be used for each subject.
        • 1 Staples Primary Composition Book (it’s red & black - can be purchased at Staples)
        • 1 Spectrum Activity book (reading, math or phonics, grade appropriate - can be purchased at Staples)
        • 2 packs of Ticonderoga #2 pencils (may be jumbo or primary size if preferred)
        • 2 large erasers or 1 pack of eraser caps
        • 2 packs of Crayola crayons 
        • 1 Black sharpie
        • 1 pack of Expo dry erase markers (these will be used daily in math)
        • 1 large pencil box case (to fit crayons, pencils, etc.)
        • 1 Poly Zip Envelope (Check size - can be purchased at Staples)

        Week of 5/30 - 6/2

        Supplemental Online Helpers
        • Parents, don't forget to log onto GreatMinds. Remember that Homework Helpers and Parent Tip Sheets are provided for each module that is covered in class and the lessons within them. This is a great aid to you as the parent when you sit with your child and help them with homework.
        • iReady is an online tool that works at your child's pace and level. It works towards slowly increasing skill development in both math and reading. I ask parents to have their child work on it daily if possible (especially those whom their child is struggling to meet academic standards) for a simple 20 minutes. 
        • IXL is another great reinforcement tool that can be used at home with your child. Both ELA and Math can be practiced on a weekly bases by your child.
        • Superkids Online Portal is available to students at home to practice their sound blending in order to read words and sentences. Both online games and books can be accessed for reinforcement.

        Week of 5/22 - 5/26

        Supplemental Online Helpers
        • Parents, don't forget to log onto GreatMinds. Remember that Homework Helpers and Parent Tip Sheets are provided for each module that is covered in class and the lessons within them. This is a great aid to you as the parent when you sit with your child and help them with homework.
        • iReady is an online tool that works at your child's pace and level. It works towards slowly increasing skill development in both math and reading. I ask parents to have their child work on it daily if possible (especially those whom their child is struggling to meet academic standards) for a simple 20 minutes. 
        • IXL is another great reinforcement tool that can be used at home with your child. Both ELA and Math can be practiced on a weekly bases by your child.
        • Superkids Online Portal is available to students at home to practice their sound blending in order to read words and sentences. Both online games and books can be accessed for reinforcement.
        Reminders
        1. Early Dismissal this week on Monday, May 22nd and Friday, May 26. Dismissal is at 12 noon sharp and after school program is in session for those who need it.

If these assignments are not completed, please don't come in last minute asking why your child is in danger of not being promoted to 1st grade.         3. Muffins for Mom is this Friday, May 12th at 8:30 am, we ask all Moms to please come and join us!
