Week of 2/20 - 2/24

Supplemental Online Helpers
  • Parents, don't forget to log onto GreatMinds. Remember that Homework Helpers and Parent Tip Sheets are provided for each module that is covered in class and the lessons within them. This is a great aid to you as the parent when you sit with your child and help them with homework.
  • IXL is another great reinforcement tool that can be used at home with your child. Both ELA and Math can be practiced on a weekly bases by your child.
  • Superkids Online Portal is available to students at home to practice their sound blending in order to read words and sentences. Both online games and books can be accessed for reinforcement.
Reminders
  1. Please make sure your child returns their decodable book, new ones will be sent out once they are returned.
  2. We are getting ready to use iReady in computer class. I will be giving students a diagnostic test in reading and math this week to get them up and running with iReady lessons. If you have any questions, please come see me.
  3. Wednesday, February 22nd - Black History Month Presentation will be held at 9am in the auditorium, parents are welcomed to come and join us.
  4. Tuesday, February 28th - Superkids contest will be held at 1:30pm for those students who wish to dress up as one of the Superkids characters. Parents are asked to please ask their child if they wish to dress up and be creative while coming up with ideas for their child's costume - Good Luck!

- I created a reinforcement worksheet for number bonds. As some students are struggling with the concept of number bonds, I urge parents to look over the sheet and sit with their child to complete the sheet. I have explained the components of the number bond on the sheet and made it simple enough for parents to grasp and be able to practice with their child.
(The after school teacher was instructed not to complete the sheet with your child because I want parents to get involved and see if and how their child is struggling with number bonds)- Thanks!
