Monday, October 31st - Halloween parade at 9:00 am parents are welcomed to join us but must leave afterwards.

Tuesday, November 1st - Mass at 9:00 am students must be in full school uniform, parents are welcomed to join us.

Friday, November 4th - Early Dismissal is at 12:00 noon.

Week of 10/24 - 10/28

REMINDERS
- Tuesday, October 25th - Reading/Phonics (Rowland Reading Program) Progress Assessment will be given; you can review with your child:
  1. identifying initial sounds /k/, /o/, /g/
  2. identifying letters Cc, Oo, Gg
  3. identifying initial letter-sound correspondences c/k/, o/o/, g/g/
- Thursday, October 27th - Interim Assessments will begin - there is no preparation needed for this exam; students may also dress down with a $1 donation.

- Friday, October 28th - Class Picture Day. ALL students must be in FULL Uniform.

- $5 will be collected by Friday the 28th for the Halloween party.
- Halloween Parade in on Monday the 31st at 9:00 am; parents are more than welcomed to join us; students may wear their costumes to school. 

- Please continue to review with your child their sight words throughout the week.

- Review sight words - I will finish assessments tomorrow; a list of the words that need to be reinforced will be sent home so that you can continue to review with your child and prepare them for the following assessment.
- $5 will be collected by Friday the 28th for the Halloween party.

- Write a sentence for each sight word in homework notebook

Thursday - 10/27
- Compete math worksheet lesson 28
- Sight words assessment has finally been completed. Index cards with the words that need to be reinforced will be sent home tomorrow so that practice over the weekend can be done.
- Reading Rowland Progress Test was given this week and has been graded, they will be sent home on Monday so that you can review with your child and sign it. **PLEASE MAKE SURE TO RETURN THEM BACK TO ME**
- Parents can visit Great Minds for math tips. This can help greatly in reinforcing what was done in class and completion of homework done correctly.
- FULL UNIFORMS FOR TOMORROW - STUDENTS WILL BE TAKING CLASS PICTURES.
- $5 will be collected by tomorrow for Monday's Halloween party; children will have a parade at 9:00 am and parents are more than welcomed to join us, the party will take place later on during the day. This means your child can come dressed in their costumes on Monday.

Week of 10/17 - 10/21

REMINDERS

  • Friday, October 21st - Dismissal is at 3pm
  • Parents please remember to sign your children in when dropping them off in the mornings and sign them out when picking them up in the afternoons.
  • I ask that you PLEASE bring your children in before 8am if you want them to have breakfast; once it's 8am and my door is closed, breakfast can not be eaten in the classroom.
  • As stated on Thursday's blog, children will be assessed this week on sights words that have been covered since the beginning of the school year up until last week (I hope reinforcement was done over the weekend and you reviewed with your children).
  • Safe Environment Curriculum will be covered with students this week - you can check my lesson plans for that.
  • Halloween party will be held for the children and I ask that parents send in $5 (this will help in buying goodies, pizza, etc. for the children).

Please send in a t-shirt for art class tomorrow, your child will get MESSY!!

- Continue to review sight words (write one sight word per index card and have your child read the word to you and give you a sentence using it).

Monday 10/3
  • Write each sight word three times each in the homework notebook (I ask that parents look over more carefully as your child writes in the notebook - checking for correct spelling, correct letter formation, and handwriting size; they should be practicing to stay in between the lines).

Even though homework isn't assigned on IXL I ask parents to log on and have your child practice and review what is covered in class. IXL reinforces Math and ELA skills in a fun and focused environment. Usernames and passwords have been sent out so that you have them accessible to you when logging your child on. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Wednesday 10/5

  • Complete math worksheet Lesson 16
    Aside from Lesson 16 homework, I ask that you review with your child numbers 0-5. Have them write out the numbers in order and practice counting; ask them to identify what number comes before and after each number. 
  • Complete sight word worksheet for was and an
  • Write a sentence for each sight word
Scholastic forms were sent out today. If you'd like to order books for your child, just send in the order form with the items that you'd like to purchase checked off and the total amount.

Thursday 10/6
For the long weekend, students will have the following homework:
  • Complete math worksheet - Lesson 17
    Students will have a quiz next week in math, 
    please review:
    • number 0-5 with your child
      have them write out the numbers, practice the orders in which they go, & what number comes before and after (i.g. before, 1, after .. before, 4, after ... etc.)
    • how many

  • Phonics workbook pages 10-12 (Lessons 5-7)
  • Religion worksheet (page 27F)

REMINDERS

  • Monday, October 3rd - Individual Picture Day, envelopes can be given to Mrs. Resto in the tuition office. Your child may wear dress up clothes but no jeans.  
  • Tuesday, October 4th - Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, mass is at 9:00 am and students can bring in their pets to be blessed. If your child has a cat or dog we ask that parents/adults take them home right after mass.
  • Friday, October 7th School is CLOSED
