January 22 - 26

REMINDERS
**Please make sure your child has sharpened pencils every morning for school. Reminder that being ready and prepared for class is essential.**
  1. Parents please remind your children that penmanship counts towards their grade.
  2. Classwork as well as homework should be done neatly.
  3. Monday, 1/22: EARLY DISMISSAL @ 12 NOON
  4. Monday, 01/22: Religion Midterm
  5. Wednesday, 1/24: 3rd grade MAP Reading Test
  6. Monday, 1/29: Religion Projects are due
  7. A reminder to parents that studying with your child will ensure academic progress. 20 minutes a night helps!
RELIGION PROJECTS
Both, 2nd and 3rd graders were given a topic on Friday in religion class for their projects and we briefly discussed what was expected. All information should be presented on a trifold board. Pictures may be printed and used for demonstration. Information may be typed and glued or handwritten on the board. This is the time to get very creative with your board to present the information on your topics. 
ALL PROJECTS ARE DUE MONDAY, JANUARY 29th

2nd Grade:
*Parents please check your child’s notebook as they wrote the topics in Friday’s notes*

For students who were assigned one of the Ten Commandments, the following questions should be answered on their boards:
  • Name the commandment given and it’s number.
  • What does the commandment mean?
  • How does the commandment apply to you as a child?
  • How does the commandment affect you as a child?
  • What can you do to follow the commandment?
  • What can you advise to other children your age on how to follow the commandment
For students who were assigned a sacrament, the following questions should be answered on their boards:
  • Name your sacrament and the type of sacrament it is.
  • What is the significance of the sacrament (why do we celebrate it)?
  • What is done during the sacrament? (any special procedures?)
  • What is used during or for the sacrament?
  • Why are they used?
  • When is the sacrament done? (what time during your life?)

3rd Grade:
All the students in the 3rd grade were assigned the Liturgical Year. Each child is to discuss Ordinary Time as well as one other season assigned to them in class. The following information is to be found on their boards:
  • The meaning of Liturgical Year/Calendar
  • The name of the season assigned
  • Timeframe of the season?
  • What is done to prepare for that season?
  • What is celebrated during that season?
  • Students should also explain what is Ordinary Time.
  • When does the Church practice it?

HOMEWORK
2nd Grade
Monday 1/22:
  1. Religion quizzes have been sent home; please review, sign and return.
  2. ELA quizzes have also been sent home; I have to say the studying was worth it! Please review, sign and return.
  3. Log onto PearsonRealize and complete assignments by Thursday 1/125. Answer all questions at the end of every leveled eReader on looseleaf with a full heading & name of the book as the subject.
Tuesday 1/23:
  1. Log onto PearsonRealize and complete assignments by Thursday 1/125. Answer all questions at the end of every leveled eReader on looseleaf with a full heading & name of the book as the subject.
  2. Review 10 Commandments & vocabulary for quiz on Friday, 1/26.
Wednesday 1/24
  1. On p. 93 of Social Studies book answer questions A, B, & D in notebook, restate the question. 
  2. Complete ONLY the bottom of pp. 118 & 119 in Reader's and Writer's Journals.
  3. Log onto PearsonRealize and complete assignments by Thursday 1/125. Answer all questions at the end of every leveled eReader on looseleaf with a full heading & name of the book as the subject.
  4. Review 10 Commandments & vocabulary for quiz on Friday, 1/26.
  5. For the following Friday, 2/2 - children should know The Act of Contrition.

Thursday 1/25:

  1. Students should have been studying The 10 Commandments and the 5 vocabulary words given on last week's religion quiz. Quiz tomorrow!
  2. No homework for tonight as I want students to focus on finishing their religion projects. Reminder it is due Monday, 1/29.

Friday, 1/26:
  1. Religion projects due Monday!
  2. Quiz pushed to Monday, 1/29, as today's Anti-Bullying lesson took up the whole period. 


3rd Grade
Monday 1/22:
  1. Log onto PearsonRealize and complete complete assignments by Thursday 1/25. Answer all questions at the end of every leveled eReader on looseleaf with a full heading & name of the book as the subject.
Tuesday1/23:


  1. ELA quizzes have been sent home; please review, sign and return.
  2. Complete p. 211 activities A & B in Voyages book.
  3. Review vocabulary words again, quiz on Friday, 1/26.
  4. Log onto PearsonRealize and complete complete assignments by Thursday 1/25. Answer all questions at the end of every leveled eReader on looseleaf with a full heading & name of the book as the subject.

Wednesday 1/24:

  1. ELA midterm exams were sent home today. Please review sign and send back tomorrow. If you have an concerns or questions, please make an appointment through the office with Ms. Alba.

Thursday 1/25:
  1. No homework for tonight as I want students to focus on finishing their religion projects. Reminder it is due Monday, 1/29.
  2. Religion & ELA quizzes next Friday, 2/2. I believe students are all quizzed out for the week! So please review over the weekend and next week.

Friday 1/26:
  1. Religion midterms were reviewed in class today and students took them home. Please review, sign and return.
