October 7th - 11th

REMINDERS
  • Vocabulary Quiz #2 this week for grades 2 - 5 on Tuesday, 10/08
  • Tuesday, 10/08 - Class Picture Day; although students have gym, they are to be nicely groomed and in full dress uniform. They may change into their gym uniform after the picture is taken
  • Wednesday, 10/09 - Fire Prevention Day, Firemen Ivan will be in school to speak to children about how to stay safe during a fire
  • Friday, 10/11 - Progress Reports will be sent home in the homework folder. Parents are to review, sign and return on Wednesday, 10/16. A reminder to parents that if you'd wish to address any concerns, a meeting must be set up in the office with Ms. Alba 
  • SCHOOL IS CLOSED MONDAY, 10/14 & TUESDAY, 10/15

LESSONS
Students this week will:
  • continue to read their trade book selected from the Pearson Ready Gen reading program
  • take their second vocabulary quiz of the quarter
  • focus on learning about nouns, direct objects, run-on sentences, and object pronouns.

HOMEWORK
Monday, 10-07
Although students have gym tomorrow, they are to come nicely groomed and in full dress uniform for class picture day; they may change into their gym uniforms afterwards if they wish.

*Students were given their Progress Reports today, they are to be reviewed, signed and returned to their homeroom teacher on Wednesday.
***A reminder that parents are to make an appointment with teachers if they wish to address any concerns. Concerns should not be addressed in the mornings when class has begun.***
*Students were given back their 2nd vocabulary quiz today. Parents are to sign both the test and the corrections. Corrections are to be written out three (3) times each; sentences and answers on loose-leaf.
*New vocabulary words will be posted on Sunday. Students should have them copied and begin to study for their 3rd vocabulary quiz that will be on the following week.
*Ms. Alma asks that on Wednesday students dress up (NO JEANS, NO SNEAKERS) for their Hispanic Heritage Music Presentations.
