Christmas Recess Homework

All students must complete 2 hours of Success Maker per subject over the Christmas break. All usernames and passwords were given on Monday, December 16th. Since then, all issues with the program have been resolved and students have worked on Success Maker during the week independently without any hiccups. Students were told to keep the index card with their login info in their homework folders and should use the exact web address on them to logon; going onto Google and typing in Success Maker will not prompt you to the correct website - hence will not allow students to log on.

REMINDERS

  • Parents are reminded to reinforce school and classroom rules to ensure that children are on their best behavior & focused throughout the day

They are to be covered with clear/transparent contact paper over the weekend to ensure that they stay in good condition throughout the year.
You may purchase clear/transparent contact paper at your local CVS, Staples, Walgreens, Dollar Tree, or Duane Read.
All workbooks must go home today, Friday and be brought back to school on Monday, September 30th as we will be working on them.

-A form for a vision program has been sent home in the homework folder, please read it carefully & only sign and return if you DO NOT want your child to take part.
-Parents please ask your child if they are allowed to wear play clothes tomorrow; I ask that you remind your child of classroom and school rules to ensure that they are focused. A reminder that wearing play clothes on Fridays is an incentive for good behavior throughout the school week and therefore play clothes is earned at the end of the week.
-All three (3) grammar worksheets will be collected tomorrow.

*Children are to physically be present with the class by 8:00 AM which is when school starts, children who arrive to school after will be marked late

*Please be sure to bring in any remaining supplies into school

*Parents enrolling their child/ren in after-school should do so by Tuesday, 9/10 in the office

Lessons


*This week grades 2 - 5 will be taking a baseline assessment on Pearson. Students will test on foundational skills for phonics and high-frequency words; two short passages followed by selected-response Comprehension and Vocabulary questions as well as Constructed Response writing prompts; an Extended Response writing prompt; and Phonemic Awareness. Students will also be reviewing sentence structure.



Homework

Monday 9/9-2nd grade is to complete worksheet on sentences.

-4th grade is to complete classwork on sentences.



Tuesday 9/10-2nd grade is to come dressed in their regular uniform


Wednesday 9/11
**2nd Grade is to wear GYM uniform tomorrow, Thursday**

-Grades 2 - 5 are to log onto Success Maker and complete 25 mins of Reading/ELA.
-All students know their username and password as we have been working on Success Maker here at the school the last few days.

-2nd grade students received an index card today with their username and passwords for Success Maker, the index card is to stay in the homework folder at all times.

-5th grade is to finish Voyages classwork pp. 5 & 7 for homework on loose-leaf, everything written out and labeled.


Thursday 9/12
-2nd grade parents please check your child's HW folder as some students still have missing papers from the packet given out on back to school night that were due on Tuesday, please fill them out, sign and return to me tomorrow in your child's folder

Friday 9/13
-Grades 2, 3, 4, & 5 are to be working on Success Maker as Mr. Woods extended the deadline until Monday for the hours that were supposed to be done over the summer (8 hours per subject, reading & mat, equaling to a total of 16 hours). In addition, Mr. Woods will be giving a prize to the student with the most amount of hours in the entire school. -Good Luck!

Mandatory Summer Program For Students K-7 *Success Maker*

A friendly reminder to all students and parents that 1 hour of
is to be completed each week per subject (reading & mathematics) beginning this week as a mandatory summer learning program. 
If students are having difficulty logging on, need to reset their password, or simply do not have access to an electronic device to complete assignments, they may visit the school.
Faculty will be available on Tuesdays from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM and Thursdays from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM for assistance.

Supply List for Grades: 2 Homeroom, ELA 2 - 5



A reminder to all parents to also check Miss Wong's, Mr. Montas' & Mrs. Matos' blog as they will also be teaching your child for this upcoming school year and have a supply list of their own.

2nd Grade HOMEROOM & ELA
**All supplies must be in on the first day of school as they will be collected and sorted.**
  • 1 composition marble notebook of 300 sheets
  • 1 folder (plastic only as they are more durable - school’s supply-room sells them)
  • 4 packs of #2 pencils (mechanical pencils are not allowed)
  • 2 large erasers or 2 packs of eraser caps
  • 1 pack of color pencils
  • Pencil case for pencils/coloring materials/sharpener
  • 1 pack of 5” X 8” lined index cards
  • 2 packs of loose-leaf (wide rule)
  • 2 reams of white copy paper
  • 1 glue stick
  • 1 pack of only yellow highlighters
  • 1 box of gallon size Zip Lock bags
  • 1 box of quart size Zip Lock bags
  • 2 rolls of bounty paper towels
  • 2 large containers of Clorox disinfecting wipes
  • 2 large boxes of tissue (or 4 of the small ones)
  • 1 Large Purell hand sanitizers (or 2 small ones) 
A reminder to please label all of your child’s supplies.
